Coming soon: Generate Objects through SOAP
written 798 days agoOne of the upcoming features of the next version of POG is allowing the generation of PHP objects through a SOAP web-service.
The service will be free, of course, won’t follow a membership model and will be unlimited.
The POG SOAP service can essentially be seen as an API, since it will allow you to build other web applications ‘on top’ of POG. Generating objects through SOAP produces exactly the same results as using the POG web interface; The only difference being that SOAP allows you to generate objects programmatically.
POG users who don’t really care about APIs, web services and SOAP will not be affected in any way by the roll-out since they will still be able to generate objects either from the POG homepage or by downloading and setting a copy of the generator on their own servers.
There will be 5 SOAP methods. The 2 most useful methods will most probably be:
GenerateObject( )
and
GeneratePackage( )
but we’ll get into the SOAP functions and what they do in more details once we release version 2.0. In the meantime though, feel free to take a look at this pre-release document which describes the SOAP functions as well as provides some code samples which you can test. We’ve set up a beta version of the SOAP web-service on our beta sub-domain, which you can use for testing, if you feel like it.
Additional information regarding POG and SOAP can be found on this discussion thread.

This is a weblog about the Php Object Generator (POG) project, OO PHP, databases and Php code generators in general.
